Applied Information Sciences is Successful in Oklahoma; Oklahoma Program Integrity (OPI) Contract is Valued at $2.2M

Austin, TX - April 14, 2005 The State of Oklahoma studied the success Texas was having with its AIS developed Accounts Receivable Tracking System (ARTS). Even though Texas paid out more in welfare payments than any other state it also collected more in overpayments using ARTS than all but one state. Oklahoma determined that the AIS' developed ARTS solution for Texas was not only best-of-breed it was in a class by itself. As a result, Oklahoma engaged AIS to implement an ARTS solution based upon the Texas success.

The ARTS system for Oklahoma will be called "Oklahoma Program Integrity" (OPI). OPI is expected to be 40 to 49% less expensive to make operational than the Texas application. The cost savings are a result of AIS' using the Texas' ARTS system as the basis for OPI. AIS is physically migrating the Texas ARTS system and incorporating the Oklahoma requirements into a fully functional overpayment system.

Major functions for the Oklahoma system are similar to the major functions of the Texas system, however, a key new feature being added to ARTS for Oklahoma is an investigations module. Portions of the overpayment system will be brought online during the project lifecycle and coexist with the current Oklahoma overpayment system. The Oklahoma overpayment system is targeted for full implementation in September 2006.

"Oklahoma and AIS decided upon a phased approach to the construction of OPI," said Tim Tenpas, AIS Central Region Practice Manager. "The result of the iterative development plan is that Oklahoma will begin realizing a return on their investment well before the project is completed."

"The Texas ARTS system had a very rapid return on investment," commented AIS Executive Vice President, Tom O'Connell. "The Oklahoma ARTS solution will also pay for itself rapidly while having a positive effect on the quality and speed of investigations."
