Accelerate Your Journey to Scaled Enterprise Cloud DevOps with AIS Service Catalog

AIS Service Catalog

Is your application development team “going rogue?” This is a question worth asking and here’s why:

Development teams face tremendous pressure with aggressive timelines from business units to get products shipped and solutions into production. Given this reality, teams look for ways to leverage new technologies as soon as they become available. This extends to cloud technologies that can be quickly on-boarded. On the other hand, internal IT departments are responsible for approving and procuring technologies and enforcing corporate policies. Having two internal groups with competing missions creates friction. To avoid this friction and expedite technology acquisition, development teams cut internal IT out of the process, in effect, going rogue. They use credit cards to purchase the technologies they want and then expense them, without executive knowledge.

Now imagine a product that creates a catalog of technologies pre-approved by IT, allowing application development teams to quickly on-board technologies via a self-service portal. This eliminates the friction – developers can quickly provision technologies and create solutions that meet their deadlines. IT can manage and provision new technologies, enforcing corporate governance. With the AIS Service Catalog, these competing needs can meet in the middle, all while quickly implementing a cloud strategy.

On-ramp Approved Azure-based Technologies in a Secure, Self-service Portal

ASC On-Ramp

The AIS Service Catalog is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tool that allows you to quickly on-ramp pre-approved Azure cloud resources using a self-service portal. This solution does not require privileged access to an Azure subscription, and the permissions for on-boarding new technologies are managed with your enterprise Azure Active Directory – Azure AD enabled single sign-on access. A technology catalog of your enterprise-approved Azure resources is created with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates. This means you can work with your selected Azure resources as a group and inter-dependently in a secure way. Additionally, there is no product lock-in. You retain ownership of any acquired Azure resources and associated ARM templates, even if you no longer use the AIS Service Catalog.

Enforce IT Policies in the Product Catalog

ASC Policies

Enforce your corporate IT policies while defining the technology or product catalog. This process is made easier with the drag-and-drop designer that is included with the AIS Service Catalog. You can also elect to leverage one of many (currently more than 250) open-source ARM templates that are publicly available in Github. As new products become available in Github, they are immediately accessible through the features used by the AIS Service Catalog. Keep in mind, the products that make up your catalog can be as simple as a single resource or as complicated as a multiple-resource production environment serving a development team.

  • Meet time-to-market demands by quickly provisioning Azure resources in a self-service marketplace.
  • Enforce IT policies by limiting choices to enterprise-approved resources.
  • Manage security with Azure Active Directory.

Gain Insights into Your Azure Cloud Usage and Spending Patterns

ASC Insights

The AIS Service Catalog supports any structure your organization chooses. You can determine how you want to group acquired Azure resources by using assigned subscriptions and resource groups. Through the use of ARM policies, the AIS Service Catalog applies automatic and consistent tagging of Azure resources at the on-ramping stage. This allows for effective monitoring through a variety of tools including Enterprise Azure Portal and Microsoft Power BI. AIS Service Catalog dashboards provide insight into resource acquisition, usage and associated costs.

  • Manage costs through consistent monitoring and reporting of provisioned cloud resources.
  • No product lock-in: all of your information is stored in your subscription using non-proprietary formats.
  • Centralized repository for enterprise wide blueprints for common, approved and reusable products.
