This past August, AIS was awarded a spot on the Federal Government’s General Services Administration (GSA) Agile Delivery Services (ADS) blanket purchase agreement (BPA). The ADS BPA is managed by an organization within GSA referred to as 18F. 18F is a team of expert designers, developers, and product specialists inside the General Services Administration that functions as a civic consultancy for the government, inside the government, enabling agencies to rapidly deploy tools and services that are easy to operate, cost efficient, and reusable.
AIS has over a decade of experience utilizing agile methodologies to bring leading edge and open source development technologies to small, medium and enterprise class projects. The 18F ADS BPA is a perfect framework for AIS to demonstrate our unique capabilities, which are centered on delivery excellence.
The proposal process was very unique and involved AIS pulling together a team from our Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina offices to deliver a working web application that utilized the FDA Open Data APIs, which we called “My Medicine Cabinet”. This was completed and delivered in less than 3 weeks.
The ADS BPA contained three specific tracks including: 1) Design Pool (small business), 2) Development pool (small business), and 3) Full Stack pool (unrestricted [full and open]). GSA reported that 88 companies submitted proposals in Pool 3 and 17 companies were selected.
